Now we have the mess in the Middle East adding to it. The Covid pandemic-related hangover (on economies) is another. Problems with the Panama Canal as well (I bet you have no clue about that). So many things... climate nastiness hitting balance sheets... the list goes on and on. One recently elected leader down under does NOT come into the picture, when looking for reasons for where we are. In Australia the biggest problem is the property market, and how young people are priced out. This goes back around 20 years or so. As an Aussie abroad, I'm grateful that I no longer have to be ashamed if my country and its leader happen to come up in conversation. The days of wankers like Abbott & Morrison are behind us. I've seen medical specialists earning $500K-$700K a year and pay $0.00 tax every year while a part time worker earning $30K a year paying more tax than someone earn $700K. Thanks to Paul Keating. Further, Albo took in 750K a year migrants without any planning (Liberals take in 50K migrants a year, so that's 12 years combined in a single year by Albo).
